A somatic movement focuses on the perceived internal experience rather than the external shape. Somatics is a movement therapy, a way of re-educating the way our brain senses and moves the muscles. The workshop is an introduction to some exercises developed by Thomas Hanna, a movement theorist, who coined the term somatics in 1976.
This two hours workshop includes a theoretical part introducing to some of these somatic movements and their meaning, and a practical part with exercises to increase self-awareness and ways to an easier and more efficient way of moving.
The entire practice is done lying down on the floor, practicing very slow and precise movements, and can become a nice integration to one’s personal yoga practice.
No previous experience required, bring a blanket.
Cost: £20. You can book here. The session will run at the centre and over Zoom, so please make sure you select the right category when you book.
